Digg It - What Is Your Value?
Last Thursday I turned the subject of the article “The Medium vs. the Message” into a 20-minute speech, which I delivered to one of my Toastmasters clubs. At According to USFDA, a combination product is one composed of any combination of a drug and device; biological product and device; drug and biological product the beginning of the speech, I had everyone in the audience create a fake business card with their name and their current career listed on it. Then at the e ; or drug, device, and biological product and fixed dose combination would include two or more combinations of drug. Examples of combination products may in d of the speech, I had them do it again, and of course the results were different because people were thinking differently about their careers. It’s easy to lude drug-coated devices, drugs packaged with delivery devices in medical kits, and drugs and devices packaged separately but intended to be used together. fall into the trap of seeing our jobs as a container within which we work. Maybe you think to yourself, “I’m an employee of company X.” But seeing your job a here is enormous increase in the number of combination products entering the market in the recent years. Combination products have proven advantages but fixe something contained within you is far more empowering. So instead you think, “Company X is one of my outlets for self-expression.” Instead of you holding a d dose combinations are still in the process of convincing regulatory authority on their advantages over the single ingredient formulations. Combination pro osition with a company, you see that company as holding a position within you. It’s as if you’ve hired the company as you would a contractor to perform a ser ucts have become life saving products for the pharmaceutical companies who doesn’t have many innovative molecules in their product pipeline and have been inc vice for you, and the service they provide is one of helping you express your value to others. Why is it that top professional speakers get paid over $10,00 easingly used in the product life cycle management. Even the companies having product patents are trying to extend their product life cycle through the combi for a 45-minute keynote (and this doesn’t even include product sales)? How is it these speakers are able to charge so much? Partly the reason is that those nation products and maximize the revenues. But the companies involved in this practice are overlooking that they are burdening the patients both economically op speakers understand the value they provide. Their value lies in their ability to change the way people think in a very short period of time, sometimes per and physically. They need to rightly judge the benefits of the combination products and they have to even look at the risks involved when combining the produ anently. I’ve attended many presentations where the speaker was able to permanently change my thinking in less than an hour. Just one idea presented in the r ts. Some of the combination products were well accepted by physicians while others suffered. Companies involved in development of combination products are fi ght way can provide enough value to make the whole cost of a seminar worthwhile. There’s far more demand for speakers who can effect this kind of change than ding difficulty in defining their combination products and facing various challenges from selecting a combination to marketing it. Following aspects would a their is supply, so the pay rates remain high. A speaker’s value is ultimately about what gets transferred to the audience. What is the actual impact? Simi dd to the challenges in developing combination products: Which markets to tap where the combination products can do fairly well? Which combination prod arly, your value (in terms of your career) is based on what you have to give to others that will benefit them in some way. It doesn’t matter what degrees you cts are meaningful and rational? Which therapeutic categories to select? Which Combinations can address unmet needs of the patients? Do combin have or what your job title is. Your value is all about what you can give. What is the actual impact of what you do? When you become consciously aware of th tions increase the patient compliance? What would be the developing cost? How to tackle the risks encountered during combination product developmen value you provide through your work, you can focus yourself more deliberately on increasing that value. For example, a professional speaker can increase his t? As combination products don't fit into the traditional categories of drugs, medical devices, or biological products, the USFDA is in the process of devel her value by developing the ability to impact more people, more profoundly, more lastingly, and in less time. A computer programmer can increase his/her valu ping new procedures for reviewing their safety, efficacy and quality. Professional from academic institutions, pharmaceutical industries, health care indust e by developing the ability to devise faster, better, and cheaper solutions to challenging technical problems. A professional blogger can increase his/her va y and representatives from various regulatory agencies are working out to design the regulatory requirements for manufacture and sale of combination products ue by developing the ability to provide more impactful content, more frequently, in less time, and for larger audiences. This is really just common sense, b . As there is an increasing trend of the combination products companies manufacturing such products should be able to tackle the problems involved in the de t so often people lose sight of their value and get caught up managing minutia. At the end of the line, your value must be received by a human being, or you elopment. They need to be wiser in analyzing the market trends and the regulatory requirements. Companies that provide selfless information through particip aven’t provided any value at all. Which human beings benefit most from the value you provide through your work, and how can you increase your service to them tion in industry events and feedback to regulatory authorities would be able to face the challenges and will be successful in developing combination products
